Pamela Pieropan Adorno Applied Leaf Pottery; "Each piece is formed on the potter's wheel. When it is partially dried and firm enough to handle without damaging, the decoration is applied. Leaves are rolled onto a very thin slab of clay, cut around the perimeter, and attached to the surface of the pot. The edges are finished with a variety of tools. The leaves are left in place to burn away during the first firing. Before the glaze is applied, a wash of Copper Carbonate goes onto the leaf impressions to pick up the texture, and impart a green tone to the glaze."
