Pentland Pottery
All the pottery produced by Pentland Pottery are one-of-a-kind, unique, hand thrown creations. Pentland Pottery employs a process called "Wood Firing," and uses a time-honored, downdraft kiln, to Wood Fire their pottery. Their Wood Firing Kiln is a whopping 400 cubic feet. That's big enough to fit 200 two liter soda bottles! Pentland Pottery's kiln firing process consists of an over three day consecutive regimen to
achieve the ideal temperature of 2100 degrees Fahrenheit! The one-of-a-kind, diverse, color
variations found on each piece of pottery is called "flashing." "Flashing" is the direct result of the wood flames found within the Wood Firing Kiln. And, interestingly enough, this process cannot be produced if you use anything other than wood. The result? Fantastical pottery creations with colors ranging from deep browns and tans, to golden and honey colors, as well as vivid shades of red and orange.
